Don't offer trials to players with contract offers from other teams! They'll immediately make up their minds and accept one of the offers on the table.

You messed up Ogane negotiations because when you exclude the release clauses from negotiations that adds a few levels to the basic wage they previously wanted. If you desire a maximum level optional extension (e.g. 2 or 3 years rather than 1), they will want another jump in basic wage. To make that signing with the terms you offered you needed to bite the bullet and make the optional extension just 1 year. (Also optional extension - 1 year, then also add in extension after promotion and you can sneak your way to a 2 year extension!)

You should really first let them join on trial most of the times the wage demands lower then.
Also when a player rejects your contract negotiation you can still offer him trial after that and when he accepts the trial you can offer him a contract immediatly so you dont have to wait about 1 week to offer him a new deal.

there's a couple of things you can do to protect yourself against sasaki's role promise:
- give him a personalised role instruction so you don't accidentally play him as the wrong one when you adjust tactics
- just play taba as the pressing forward, he's more than capable
