As a kid I really enjoyed his concerts for young people. Mr Bernstein had a way with children engaging their love music. I wish some tv network maybe would run those programs again. They were wonderful. 😊❤

Have you ever noticed that animals appreciate classic music? They don't give two nods to rock and roll, but when the William Tell comes on, they'll sit up and take notice.

Meilleur passage pour moi de 5:50 a 8:20 pour la nostalgie des contes que j'écoutais quand j'étais enfants. La suite edt bien aussi elle réveille.

What I really love about Bernstein, is how he conducts the tempo. He plays the dramatic parts slower than other conductors (I especially his Beethoven 5th), then builds up the tension, very clearly and deliberately, then knocks you out with a slightly faster pace following movement. He truly respected the composers.

This is part of a release of various oveture. Carl Stern solo cello, John Wummer solo flute, Engelbert Brenner solo English horn.

Five popular overtures were recorded from 1960 to 1962 for a vinyl released in 1965. The William Tell was recorded in the fall of 1962. Oddly, by the time the album was released, both Wummer and Stern had retired.

Each soloist was first chair for his instrument at the Philharmonic (Brenner was also an oboist with the orchestra) for at least 25 years.

Just heard this on the local classical music station today and had to find it on you tube. I do have a rather good quality HiFi system. Good speakers and powerful amp. Enough output to impress if not annoy the neighbors.
Something about this piece that captures much emotion. Utilizing the whole orchestra. All four movements, so different from each other. Would hate to have to pick a ten best for classical music. This is a must have work for any serious listener. How can anyone not like the fourth movement (March).

Here for a random reason, but I will never forget the tragic movie moment using this song from My Life. Just let a dying man listen to the damn william tell overture on 11 in peace ffs. "Great, now I have to start it over..."

Just love the bit at 4:01 it reminds of a hero just in mild peril, like a storm.
Only Bernstein does the tuba spikes fast enough for enjoyment.

Man, that was fun. This is Lenny with tongue in cheek a bit, no? But what is just as breathtaking is the morning section right before the finale. The clarity, delicacy and elegant phrasing leave the corny renditions of this section, in lesser hands, way behind. Bernstein earned his goofy moments with a deep sophistication that still has few equals.
