So I have the Mass Transit DLC. What should be my next addition?

I argue that these games have created an entire generation of future urban planners, yourself included. I seriously considered it as a career at one point.

I'd say it's almost there, but there are definitely things that should be in it that aren't, such as mixed use zoning, and I would also add a "medium density" zone (similar to missing middle). I'd also add things like military bases, and a city hall, along with city branch offices to serve the residents of the city, and I'd also like to be able to add things like parliament buildings, and other associated governmental buildings, but they'd probably be unique buildings in the same vein as the temple or panda sanctuary, or stadium. I'd also like more random events, such as strikes and protest marches, or on a set day each year, large street parties and military parades to mark, let's say, a major national holiday, if the player so desires, for a little extra challenge.

There are a couple of city planners who also play C:S on YouTube. Sam Burr is one who does a good job of talking about how he builds cities with his day job in mind.

I would love to see Cities Skyline have mixed zoning. That's something I wanted in Sim City 4.

Maybe if we cough loud enough the devs will hear. *cough* MIXED USE ZONES please?

Well, I'd agree on most of your points, however I think that they do take things like land value, citizen happiness and many other factors into consideration. The citizens do get mad if you build an oil power plant next to a residential zone for example, or start removing services like healthcare or trash collection. I haven't tried the city simulation tools that the professionals use, but I think Cities: Skylines is pretty darn close to reality while still being fun.

So I was walking around North Sacramento this morning after that rain cell came through and I was fascinated to see the little rivulets coming from each lawn across the sidewalk and into the street where it was taken to the gutters and over to the canal by my local school, seeing the different tributaries dump into the canal made me wonder what happens from there. Can you do a video about designing city water systems and how they work and what has to be considered when planning for it? Thanks

Cities: Skylines is actually such a. Awesome game. Especially with the mods.

It would be nice if they added GDP statistics. That way you can see how much value your city produces in an In-game year and you can see how wealthy your citizens are with GDP per capita and you can see the economic growth of your city. This could affect migration to and from your city, high gdp per capita means much more people will come, low gdp per capita means your city is poorer and people may come in much smaller numbers or leave entirely. Think it would add an extra challenge to the game

If your going to use mods, I would recommend a better pc than a laptop, this game is a ram eater

Things I'd like to be added in Cities: Skylines (in no particular order):
Features: change zone size (3, 4, 5 squares), mixed-use zone, double-sided trams
Services: goverment, telecomunications
Buildings: city hall, telecom. network, switchback tram terminal
Policies: lock trashcans (against wild animals), solar panels subsidies
Tasks: more emphasis on work with budget
Enviroment: desert climate, wind simulation, air polution, interactive wild animals, traffic accidents

THIS VIDEO ISNT FINISHED UNTIL YOU’VE SEEN THE STEAM WORKSHOP.

Seriously, the modding community behind this game is amazing. There are realistic looking assets, LUT’s, themes, and Mechanical mods. One such mod is “Traffic President” which allows you to have greater control over intersections, merging, and traffic lights.

Then, search a YouTuber like Pres, Strictoaster, Flux, or TwoDollarsTwenty to see how they make REALISTIC cities. You will be blown away.

I love Cites Skylines, but because I can see some of the limitations and things that the current game struggles with I can't wait for Cities Skylines 2. For a first attempt at a game like this the developers made an amazing game, but I am looking forward to what they can do with the knowledge they have gained in this version of the game with the addition of things they have learned over time to see what they can pull of with a whole new start, things that might not be possible right now could be possible in the next version as they will have learned how to do them or just discovered that it would be something good to add, so they could code the game to have and allow those things.

This is a really good video! And a really interesting topic, I'm myself a CS player and the way CS works with this "agent model" fascinates me all the time.. Thanks, a lot for making this vid!
