Build a website with Bootstrap 4 - Part 1: The setup

In this video, I install Bootstrap 4 and look at how to set it up properly. While the initial setup isn't the most exciting thing in the world, setting Bootstrap up properly lets us use it to its full potential!

I use Bower (and explain all the steps you need to do if you want to follow along), and then copy a few SCSS files, which I use to import only the Bootstrap components that I'll actually be using!

I'm doing all this with Bootstrap v4 alpha 6, so fair warning that if you're watching this in the future, a few small things may be a bit different along the way, but it shouldn't be anything major.

Why is it so complicated to set up bootstrap, the command line scares the crap out of me and I keep getting access denied errors, I'm just trying to learn

I recommend going to thr Odin project and completing their installation chapter of their web design course plus the command line course. When you are finished, you will understand this totally, plus have node and git and everything.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for all your videos. Can you please update this course? because I think bower is no more in support of bootstrap and also gulp has been updated to version 4 or higher. So I will really appreciate If you can create a new tutorial with bootstrap 4 and all these setup processes.

I tried once before to set up ruby to compile sass and i watched a step by step video. I did something wrong and could never figure it out . And yeah, i could try pausing this video for each step and try to do it again but honestly, most of this makes no sense to me . I feel like this is just as much work as learning how to write CSS in the first place. I dunno if it is just me but is this not the best place to start for someone who has never used bootstrap ? Because, i dont know what most of terms you used even mean or what a lot of them do...

Hey, kevin! I am installing and going through set up, and I just wanted to see if you know any reason git shell would not show up once git hub is installed. Also w/ bootstrap 4 there is no longer a code line for bower on the bootstrap 4 download site, so any recommendations on what should do next

Unreal vid, thank u, just what I was trying to work out. Ive been using Foundation because Bootstrap 3 uses pixels, thinking about Bootstrap 4 but they use flexbox which is good but worried about browser compatibility, Foundation would be safest bet wouldn't it?
