As a Brazilian, I can say this with ease:

Culturaly, the US won, period - the measure of how must be the "standard" of life has been set by them, and much of the popular culture of the world has been deeply affected by them to the point that is irreversible.

But Economicaly and Politicaly? They are done - they had lost much of the respect and trust of the world.

We will still listen rock & roll, pop music and see Hollywood movies, but we will not gonna obey Washington blindly again.
