'Make Way!' or: How I Became 'That Annoying Tourist'

Here I had thought I had backed into an appropriate spot. Then the Guards inclined to the right and I became that which I had scorned for so many years: the tourist in the way!

Oh well. It happens quite often and I was hardly the only one! For those curious, these are men of the Scots Guards, who were on duty at the Castle that day. -

Damn he said "make way" so naturally and with such confidence, it was like a NPC saying his programmed dialogue. Only a fool would not make way after such display of authority

Could've been worse, I was at Horse Guards once watching a box change, and an American tourist (I'd been talking to them prior to this, since I was at the time emigrating to the US) got in the way in between the horses. Lead Trooper yelled "GET OUT THE WAY", Tourist screamed and moved, directly into the other Trooper, who yelled "MOVE IT, NOW" Tourist screamed again.

To be honest, they were rather nice to you about it. I have seen videos where they just lay into whoever is blocking their path. And they did pick an odd path to move in. You couldn't have predicted that. I wouldn't beat yourself up too much for this one.

There are literally tourists/citizens trying to mock them and cracking jokes on their faces. You on the other hand seem like a civilized tourist who just happened to stand in the way inadvertently. No big deal at all.
