Yeah Jason Ross has his moments.

He makes bigger waves on Ophelia whenever he's expanding trance into psy territories (a favorite of mine is his collab with Seven Lions on "The Sirens"), and the biggest takeaway from his Rooms EP for me wound up being his club mix of IOU, which isn't directly on the EP but is a supporting single for it.

personally I'm a big fan of Jason's melodic-dubstep work, and while some of these songs are lacking on the ideas front, I can certainly appreciate the album for what it is, with my favorite tracks being "one that got away", "shelter", "known you before", and "1000 faces". I remember hearing him and Seven Lions drop "known you before" on the Journey II tour and I was absolutely blown away; so I was extremely happy to find out it was getting a release.

Tbh I love what Ophelia has been doing. I really think they had very good releases in 2019 with a lot of good EPs and sincgles and because of what you said, Seven Lions gives a place to these smaller artists. But maybe it is because Im a big fan of Melodic Dubstep and like the style very much. For me personally I don’t currently see a decrease in creativity so far and think the ideas of several Ophelia artists are quite good.

How the hell did I not know that RØRY is Roxanne Emery? Thanks for making me aware of that lol. As for the album, I actually did enjoy it. I don't listen to a ton of melodic dubstep, so maybe that's why I'm not sick of this sound. It's a pretty fun, short album, but I do agree that a few tracks do sound a little same-y.

I actually liked this album a lot, maybe because i don’t listen to a ton of newer melodic dubstep ever since illenium and said the sky kinda became the faces of the genre. Nor have I listened to Jason Ross before this besides his single with seven lions, “Ocean”. Nothing will ever beat the OG tunes from Gemini and Xilent for me but I thought that this had a lot of pop appeal while holding on to melodic dubstep, but also experimenting into some trance and downtempo. Once again, maybe I just haven’t heard as much as you have but i thought this one was a breath of fresh air

Speaking of Trance, thoughts on ilan bluestones debut on Monstercat and Eminence - Throwback ?

That comment about Seven Lions and being blindfolded doesn't really make much sense as a melodic dubstep listener. Jason Ross' sound design is as clear as day and it's pretty easy to tell the difference between the two just by listening to their tracks. It's pretty easy to tell who listens to the genre and who doesn't.

Just sayin, but Ophelia tends to blur the line between melodic and heavy at times, not just meldub. I'm sort of suprised that you never mentioned The Blood or Revelation.

Hey Landon, love your reviews! Was wondering, would you be interested in reviewing Crywolf's Widow [OBLIVIØN Pt. I] album? Would love to know your thoughts about it

The only reason this record got some buzz was because A&B showed some support...or to put it frank "let's just support dubstep that's being produced by Seven Lions and Jason Ross). Seriously, you ONLY see them play dubstep songs by either Jason Ross or Seven Lions on there. Im so sick of Above & Beyond being so lazy with this. If you truly like the dubstep sound, then ATLEAST play something else then just Seven Lions & Jason Ross. They should just stick with the music they like because i don't think A&B likes dubstep at all.

Oh yeah r/EDM made Known You Before the "Progressive Trance Track of The Year"...that alone was so bad.

The problem with this album for me is that Jason ross' melodic dubstep isn't as interesting as say, ilenium or trivecta. His ROOMS ep was way wayy better than this. The only stand out tracks for me are Chains, Letting Go, and 1000 faces. An EP with those three tracks and Known You Before would have done it and make it a better experience.

You should check out the new album Stream of Consiousness by Spencer Brown. I think you would find the project interesting.

Yeah this album and Griffin's are nothing special. We all know it and it's nothing new or innovative. Just sick of the ''future bassish'' melodic dubstep. Would love more last heroes or old VR or even 501
