How Anni-Frid Lyngstad of ABBA became a real life princess
Показать описание
In honor of ABBA receiving a prestigious knighthood in Sweden, here is some history on how member Anni-Frid Lyngstad became a real life princess!
In 1986, Anni-Frid Lyngstad was divorced from Benny Andersson and had left Sweden for London, England. She was introduced to Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss, a landscape architect, whom she bonded with over a love of playing golf.
Ruzzo, a Swiss-Swede, was the son of Baroness Louise Peyron and Prince Heinrich Enzio Reuss-Plauen, a member of the aristocratic House of Reuss. His official name is Heinrich Ruzzo, Prinz Reuss von Plauen, though he went by his middle name "Ruzzo " socially. He was educated at the same school as Sweden's King Carl Gustav, with whom he was good friends.
Ruzzo and Frida fell in love quickly. After being photographed together by paparazzi on the balcony of Frida's apartment, the couple left London and lived together in Switzerland. They married in 1992.
After the marriage, Frida became "Princess Anni-Frid Synni Reuss, Countess of Plauen" and is entitled to use "Her Serene Highness" as a prefix.
Ruzzo passed away in 1999 from cancer at the age of 49. Frida never remarried and has retained her title, though she does have a long-term partner in the form of the British aristocrat Henry Smith, Viscount Hambleden. Were she to marry Smith, she would cease to be the Princess Reuss and would become the Viscountess Hambleden.
