I've climbed countless mountains in the Rockies, hiked, backpacked & trekked thousands of kms, summer & winter, walked precarious glaciers, come face to face with more black bears, brown bears & ruminants than I can remember, met a few cougars, a couple of wolves & a wolverine, fallen into streams & rivers, got caught in crazy alpine storms, been lost a few times, and I would *never* climb an icicle or a frozen waterfall.

...that's just crazy 🙃

I don’t climb anymore, too damn old. But, I lost 2 friends to ice climbing and swore never to do it again after that, they were both capable, experienced climbers and their accident was unavoidable except to not be there.

One of my nephiews did this. And ultimately died when an avalanche pushed him of a mountain, breaking his back 100 meters down. His last action was to secure his fellow climber, while saying: "Avalanche!"
