Everyone is putting all the blame on Ubisoft, but this is also such an L for Star Wars as a marketing property. It’s crazy that people still pretend that it’s worth getting excited about.

I work part time at a big box department store, and I occasionally look through the game case to see whats available. Just a few days ago, the slot for Outlaws was jammed packed full of copies, while the slot for Stellar Blade was sold out, and is constantly sold out. Food for thought.

Aging Gen X here. I just wanted to say that it makes me very happy to see people like yourself, from your generation, making such clear and solid cases. No drama, ranting or screaming. But a well thought out analysis with good advice. Keep pushing for quality stories, games, movies etc. My generation isn't the target demographic, they don't care what we think. Vote with your money. Don't buy blind due to hype, support the good stuff, it's mainly in the indie scene right now.

fun fact: these designations of 'A (indie), AA, AAA, or AAAA' are not actually based on game quality, they're based on the number of people who worked on the game. for example, AAA is about 300 people and AAAA is about 500 people, which implies cost. so ubisoft is just exposing their incompetence by revealing that 500 people (~50 mil/year total salaries cost) worked on a flop.

Its a strange situation, I inagine managers and some people at the board thinking: "we'll get some extra money in our pocket who cares about the company, let the social engineers do what they will so long as my bank account is full"
Then they find everything canning, the dirty money dries out and they think: "well I get my severance who cares about the company, Im retiring in a few months anyway..."
And then they realize the company can't pay, and then they think: "well sell the company get our secerance and blame operations."
Problem is a tainted franchise is not a franchise anymore, it's a liability.
Regardless, Im sure someone paid off people on the inside to destroy the company and that's what's been happening, but when you demolish a building from the inside, the endgame is messy.

Getting a game breaking bug in a game after putting several hours into the story is the most annoying thing ever. The last major one I had was in Steelrising, which was a really fun game, but my character fell through a crack in one of the elevator shafts and the elevator had no way to be lowered back down after being raised and falling below it. Completely cutting me off from the remainder of the game. Never went back to playing that game after that because of how disappointing it was.

As a fan of Tom Clancy and PoP Trilogy - hurts we won't see these titles anymore. Ubisoft took loyal, real gamers for granted just to indulge influencers who were never gamers in the first place. I recently made a John Wick style action montage using SC Blacklist stylish takedowns. Looks badass with music I chose. If only we got a JW game from Ubi. They had all the right tools already from SC and Watch Dogs. Too late now...
