My parents never ever gave me “the talk”. I just discovered it through my friends and the internet

I had 7 brothers so I understand men pretty well and their struggles. There are pros and cons to being a man or a woman. You cannot get it all.

Great work. My son is three, about to turn four and he said a few weeks ago "daddy I want a beard like you so I can shave." (Exact words, he's very well spoken). It made me tear up a bit. I used to be rather emotionless and a borderline sociopath until I had kids. Now I'm so emotional over them and kids in general. I'll get them learning from this show when they're eight.

This feels a lot different to a British school, boys in the changing rooms spray tons of Lynx Africa deodorant everyway instead of showering and we wip each other with our belts instead

Man. I'm a female but I love learning about this stuff. It really helps give you a new perspective on things and how others go through life

One thing is kind of messed up about growing up as a boy. You are marked for life. Unless you can shake the past, move somewhere new and have good luck. Getting suspended, detention, failing a class, word gets around. Teachers will reinforce your perceived social cast, I was shy so I became a bit of a class clown. I wasnt rude or disruptive, just did really good impressions and witty sarcastic comments. But teachers would subtly ruin your life. "That's not the topic I gave you"
but this is 4 weeks of work.
"Either fail or do it again?"
But hey you definately learn resilience strategies early as a male.

I changed school every year and rolled with every school's rules so I somewhat amazed to learn about what most boys go through.

Girls: “why won’t the boys talk to us?”
Look, we go through a whole mental plan just to speak to you. First we have to come up w/ something to say, then we have to think if the sentence conveys the right message, we then choose the best tone to suit our intentions, after that we second guess ourselves and wonder how you’ll react, so we then reword our sentence about 13 times like it’s college thesis, then comes the moment of truth on wether or not we let the phrase exit our mouths. 80% of the time we don’t. Keep in mind, this is just the formula for how we say “what’s up?” Or tell a joke to you.

When it comes to the "emotionless male" thing, people tend to focus on the "don't cry" aspect of it (which I've literally never heard anyone seriously say, in my life), but the primary emotion that gets covered up is nervousness...not sadness. Hiding sadness is in there too, but it's not nearly as common.
Learning to hide a lack of confidence is something most guys have to learn at some point, because you're gonna have a really hard time finding someone to be with romantically if you can't ask them out without being a nervous mess. Women will reject you and not even be nice about it.
Can't look like a wuss in front of your friends, as a kid, so you better act tough even if you don't feel it.
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

My Dad had the "talk" with the first boy who took me to a dance. Corey just looked at him and said "I don't really understand what you're saying, because we're 12." I could hear Dad roaring with laughter from the other end of the house.

In high school I avoided showers like the plague and actually talked to a school counselor about it, sort of. I just dropped in a conversation, but they were very understanding about it and it turns out at my school, it wasn't really a requirement since a lot of students also refused to use the showers too, so they didn't enforce it and felt no need too. However, my senior year, I couldn't avoid it. My wrestling team just had a practice during the Christmas break and we were actually going on a trip to statewide wrestling tournament. We were all sweaty and the team in general decided everyone needed a shower since the bus wasn't scheduled to arrive for another 30 minutes. I tried to avoid it but the team insisted and oddly enough it was fine. I used every excuse I could but there was a rebuttal for each one. But in the end I was forced into the shower.

Never got how "Man up" turned into "Be emotionless". It means take care of your responsibilities, solve problems, take action. My dads "the talk" was handing me some condoms and a bag of weed, asking me what they were and saying "good man" when I answered correctly.

My teachers used to try to embarrass me in front of people, or that’s what I felt like, except for my science teacher, I often got distracted because I have ADHD so I would struggle to get things done but my science teacher made it easier for me to get my work done and didn’t try to embarrass me in front of people and was pretty chill ngl

Boys' parents when we mention a girl: So have you thought about names for the kids?

Girls' parents when they mention a boy: Stay away from him! He's the Devil himself!

I have never understood the "you must fight after school if challenged" no you don't, I actually believe it's a mockery towards the bully if you don't show, it's like saying "You are not worth my time"

Jokes on you. First time I hung out with a female friend, we went and saw that movie about the reincarnating dog. And yes I cried. And I am not ashamed.

Where I live, being emotional really isn’t a massive problem for me and other boys, the teachers and principals are fair and never ignorant to a situation, and I haven’t been physically attacked since 5th grade (stabbed by a pencil). But this video really makes me fortunate about being in this school, since the guy who wants you to fight him after school would probably immediately get suspended and would be immediately held accountable.

Bro i felt that, as boys at school there were huge brawls between classes and most of us were never part of them, then they punished the whole grade of boys because "we were all trouble makers", it was horrible to experience, my voice also became deeper at 13 which was nice as it was earlier than my friends
