i fired at a base truck with arty, he set up his base and had immediately troops inside the base.. it was so crazy :)

I figured it out when I was moving back and forth between land and sea in the Azores city. I saw that I could recall my troops even when I was in truck mode.

mag no need to do one by one when you want to put all back, you can select all button and then tap recall left side of the button :)

An interesting option to put your base in truck mode before going to sleep, you might get blown up, but you wont lose troops (especially smaller bases can benefit from it).
