I use an app on Android called Textra. It lets me pick any bubble style and color for every contact. The fact Iphone cant even change the bubble color is silly.

iMessage: cant customise, comes up as maybe sometimes.
Whatsapp: Change background, change colours has a typing indicator.

Android is so much more convinient. And its not even so ugly! The phones look good and so does the ui! I eman ok, samsung messages migjt not be as good or facetime might not be as good but cmon. Only 2 reasons!!
