When Adam barely talks during the whole podcast, you know the guest is FIRE! Brady Haran is amazing and probably the best science communicator on Youtube. <3

Adam's reaction when he found out it was a Klein's bottle is the wholesomest of the wholesome reactions ever

O. M. G.
Cliff Stoll on this podcast would be completely mind bending.
And probably 4 hours long...

I can feel my soul recharging when I see Adam get so obviously excited and yet stay quiet so he can listen well.

That gift moment at the very end was the perfect note to end this fantastic conversation on.

Crazy that they never talked about the Apollo missions, that could be a whole second episode

I love Brady and his tremendous work. It was Periodic Videos that got me hooked with chemistry and Sixty Symbols and Numberphile that made me love science in general. I found his channel during junior high, at a time where I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do, and was a huge influence on that aspect of my life. Now that I'm in university studying science, it's crazy to think that this person had such a huge impact on my decisions. I only hope he knows how important his work is and I wish I will one day meet him in person and have a chance to chat.

I’ve said this for a couple of years and I’ll say it again: Brady Haran is the greatest scientific communicator in human history. And it’s because he’s not the actual communicator, but the channel— the medium. Through him I’ve been introduced to the weirdest and most interesting concepts (and I’m in the sciences) along with the people dedicated to those very subjects.

Brady never shared all of this on HI. At least never this in-depth. It's like a wonderful little bonus insight into his background.

And I thought Avengers was the greatest crossover ever made

This was a genuinely beautiful interview. One of the top comments on the video says Brady is one of the best science communicators on youtube but while I agree, I think its a bit reductive. Brady is amazing not because he is a communicator, but rather because he fascilitates communication. He is the audience surrogate in the room and I genuinely don't know if anyone is as good at that as Brady is.

11:00 OMG Mathematics as this giant field with different topics, rather than a monolithic block of facts, rings so true to me.

I was a Math Major in college, going down that straight road of algebra > geometry > calculus, and I was thoroughly lost by the 3rd semester of Calculus.

I talked to my Mentor and he said not every Math person has to know Calculus, and he had me take this survey of Mathematics class. Set theory, matrix math and others. I loved that class and spent the rest of my college career exploring those diverse areas.

This was my introduction to being a JOAT.
