It's just a fire mission using a 50 ft lanyard. It's common to do that the first few fire missions after major work on the gun or after getting one from rebuild, etc. The Soldier (number one man) is the last guy off the gun and it's a common way to pull the lanyard on this kind of mission.

As a Tanker we had to fire outside the tank after certain maintenance tasks were executed or if it was the first time firing. I imagine this is the case here as well.
