President Biden signs the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law — 6/17/21

President Joe Biden on Thursday signs a bill establishing Juneteenth, the date marking the end of slavery in the United States, as a federal holiday.

The signing event at the White House comes two days before Juneteenth itself, which falls on June 19 each year. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris deliver remarks in the East Room.
