Welcome to our tour of the royal landmarks around The Mall in London's City of Westminster! In this London travel vlog, we'll share the history of iconic British landmarks: from Buckingham Palace to Admiralty Arch and everything in between!

The Mall is a road in the City of Westminster, in central London, between Buckingham Palace and Admiralty Arch. You've probably seen this road during broadcasts of royal weddings, funerals, and other regal events. But, along The Mall, are several historic landmarks that represent the history of the British monarchy.

This was our first time in London and it was incredible to see some of London's most iconic landmarks right before our eyes! We began at the Wellington Arch, which was originally supposed to be the entrance to Buckingham Palace. We'll share why that never ended up happening!

We made our way to Buckingham Palace, which was at the top of our list of things to see in London. Out of all of the attractions in London, Buckingham Palace really blew us away! We'll tell you about the origins of Buckingham Palace and some fun facts about this world famous royal residence.

We certainly felt like American tourists in London but it was nice to see other people taking just as many photos as we were. It was especially exciting to see some of the King's Guard in front of Buckingham Palace, although we're still getting used to saying "King Charles" instead of "Queen Elizabeth II."

In front of Buckingham Palace is the Victoria Memorial and Memorial Gardens. Both of these landmarks honor Queen Victoria. The Victoria Memorial at Buckingham Palace represents Queen Victoria's characteristics and is a stunning work of art! The adjacent Memorial Gardens add wonderful pops of color to the area surrounding the palace. One color, in particular, has a symbolic meaning that we'll share with you!

The Mall, itself, has an interesting history and was created in 1660 under King Charles II's reign. The Mall leads up to Buckingham Palace, like a red carpet. It was a bit chaotic when we went, though, as they were making preparations for the coronation of King Charles in May 2023.

Buckingham Palace is at one end of The Mall and Admiralty Arch is at the other. The Arch is now considered to be the beginning of The Mall and is often where royal processions start. Admiralty Arch also has ties to Queen Victoria, which we'll explain in this vlog.

We're so thankful we got to cross London off of our bucket list and spend a day touring London and its landmarks around The Mall! We'll never forget it and recommend everyone visits these spots during their first trip to London, England.
