Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Announces Curfew On Weekends; Markets, Malls And Gyms Shut

Delhi government has decided to enforce a weekend curfew in light of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases. The decision was taken following a meeting between Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Chief Minister Kejriwal said the weekend curfew will come into effect from April 17 onwards.
The weekend curfew will be enforced from 10 pm on Friday evening till 6 am Monday.
Only essential services will be exempted from the weekend curfew. Interstate transport will also continue.
All markets, malls and gyms will remain shut during the weekend curfew.
Private offices will be directed to ensure that employees work from home.
A source in the Delhi government said the weekend curfew can be extended if Delhi's caseload continues to rise over the coming days. Watch the full bulletin.
