Thank you, I thought my dogwood tree was dead. She had a bunch of dead limbs at the end and we cut that part off. I did your test and the limbs left bended and had green. I was so happy. 😄. Fingers are crossed she gets some buds, nothing yet. We just planted her last fall so its a baby tree.

In the case of the second plant with dead branches, is there a way of inspecting the roots to determine if they are alive?

I have a potted rosemary and there’s a bad winter rn and my normally gorgeous green rosemary looks kinda rough like it’s drooping and stuff hasn’t lost leaves though does that mean it’s dead or should I wait?

I'm in south michigan. I got clippings from trumpet tree last yr and it grew good. Cut it back in oct and put in dark bedroom for winter. Brought it out april watered and put on porch. In May this yr I put it in the ground. It looks dead. I just don't. I water it hoping something starts to grow. But nothing. How will I know to give up hope???? Thanks

I have an apple tree in my back yard that bloomed last year and had tons of apples. This year the apple were only at the top of the tree and they didn’t mature. I’m pretty sure the tree is dead but I’m going to do the test. Thank you!

I have a peach tree that is dry from about 2 feet up from the ground to the top but has shoots at the bottom, how do I prune it or can I cut it down to the base to where it’s dead?

Crepe myrtles are almost NEVER dead around here. It tools us years to finally get rid of one that was too close to the house. It kept popping up again near the original spot.🤨

This last winter with all the hard rains here in Los Angeles, CA (and possible gopher(s) as the main culprit), my rather large Barbados Cherry tree fell over. I didn't straighten it back upright in time, and as a result it started to wither. After stabilizing it and 2-3 months later without any leaves nor any sign of new growth, other than the cambium layer being green, I had pruned it a second time (just a little more due to the cambium layer being green a little lower now).

Any advice would be of great help, as I'm clueless on what to do from here.
I've fed with fish & kelp emulsion, as well as humic acid and Superthrive... Still nothing, but the cambium is still green a little lower now. Is it slowly dying off?
I'm almost wanting to pull the plug on it. But I also want to give it its time if there's any chance left. I just don't want to waste it's space and since it's about mid-spring already, I don't want to miss out on planting something in it's space and also lose out on time/this growing season.
I'm probably going to plant 2 different fig types in its spot.
Please help... Thanks!
