Born into military service, Valentinian showed himself a capable officer and a devout Christian. These qualities eventually elevated him to the imperial purple. During his time in office, he waged bloody war against the Germanic tribes on the Rhine while his prefects sought to suppress pagan magic back in Rome.

Underrated Emperor for sure. I've seen alot of people say that his brother Valens is underated and I'm always thinking to myself that he would have been nothing in history without Valentinian. He was the career military man like his father, he knew all the right people too. Great vid on a great Emperor
