For the second image, might be easier to reveal all the black first, then the rest

Thanks for this, Pamela! :) I'm guessing that once you created/drew the colored smiley face there's no way to save it as an asset so that next time you bring it to a DIFFERENT project, it remembers all your work? You'd have to start from scratch. That would be a bummer. :)
