Personally, Im tired of the Alumni collector dolls, I would rather have reproduction dolls that are widely available for every monster high fan with a playline price point. Most of the Almuni dolls aren't worth it for me, not only because of the price but also the probability of not getting because it sold out in seconds. I do wish Mattel would create an aged up g1 monster high that's aim at the old demographic of fans.

My only problem is the quantity control- Like my g3 Draculaura has one longer sock, her bow is wonky as heck, the same goes for the stitching details on her corset, and then my g3 Frankie has a green head and half of theire stich on theire right leg is scratched.

I collected MH since 2011 and I agree that I miss G1 a lot. I was so excited for g3. I have 23 g3 dolls currently and still want to get Abbey, Spectra, Venus, ss3 Ghoulia, ss3 Twyla, and ss3 Frankie, but I am with you on it being geared toward younger audiences. I don't like most of the character changes and the show is not my favorite.

Honestly, I hope G4 mimics the style of both G3 and G1 but keeps Frankie NB and has more LGBTQ characters, maybe new monsters, but makes some of the story content more mature and teen/adult oriented.

My perspective is a bit different because I was 29 when G1 was released. They were my first foray into fashion doll collecting as an adult. Around 2010, fashion dolls were more normal, trendy fashion, and I just wasn't feeling it. Monster High had the alt fashion stuff I was into, and they were cute but also edgy and different. So I collected everything for the first two years, including the SDCC dolls and it just kinda waned off for me. Because I was older, I don't have nostalgia tied to MH.

When it comes to G3 MH, I honestly really like them. When I look back at the G1 dolls in my former collection, or think about buying a few of them second-hand, I honestly don't like them as much. The clothing on a lot of them was garish and obnoxious. They were caked with glue and product. The faces wiped easily even in the boxes or had wonky screening (I remember trying to find dolls that had better faces). Trying to find them second hand with limbs or other body parts is a nightmare. The G3s are substantial, they're sturdy, better designed. The clothing is more cohesive with nice details. They're sturdy and substiantial dolls. My only gripe is the poly hair. Not the end of the world for adult collectors who can care for it or want to reroot/customize. They're going to get mangled by kids though.

Everyone is saying that they're marketed more toward kids, but Monster High G1 was also marketed toward the same age demographic. They only appealed to adults who were into alternative fashion and/or horror as well. They were vastly different than what was on the market at the time, and they were cool, edgy and interesting. Keep in mind that Mattel's biggest competitor in dolls right now is MGA with Rainbow/Shadow High and LOL Suprise, both are very cutesy. Kids in the 2020's are vastly different than a decade ago, having been impacted greatly by the pandemic. Two years isn't long for an adult. But when you're a kid, the difference between third grade and fifth grade is huge. Your classmates are growing up, going through puberty, and starting to have societal expectations placed on them earlier than they are prepared for. Like hell, I wouldn't blame a kid for wanting to hold onto childhood a bit longer either, especially when they didn't get those years to socially develop.

I want to see more repros (creepros) made, and re-released. At least offer a greater number of them, and make them widely availble. I know a second wave is coming out with my girl, Ghoulia (which I'll be getting, I regret selling my original). But I'd be happy with another re-release of the repros. I just don't want to pay the inflated 2nd hand price for them. Also, literally sold off the last of my collection when the repros came out. Now I want them again. FML.

Personally, I don't really core for some media comeback for g1, I only really care about the dolls. I've been a fan of Monster High ever since I was just a small boy. I like g3, I think the decisions to make the character proportions more diverse, giving Frankie they/them pronouns are great and I like that they are bringing these aspect to the brand. I just don't really enjoy the designs. They are very uninspiring to me and they feel too much like they are wearing clothes that you can buy in an actual store. I understand wanting to make the brand less edgy and alternative, but stripping the originalness of it away feels like a bad move. I have a couple g3 dolls and defintely intend on buying more when they officially come to my country, but I can never see me being obsessed with them as much as I am with g1.

They literally made lagoona BLUE, , , , pink 😭☝️ their weird obsession with changing the skin colors of the dolls is my biggest pet peeve with the new dolls..I understand redesigning a character, but?? Does deuce really have to be green now?? Frankie is now blue and not green?? Like idk it just doesn't tickle my fancy..I have 3 of the new dolls and the quality of my clawdeen's hair is honestly embarrassing its so cheap looking and was ratty asf upon first opening 😭☝️ begging and pleading them to just put out ACCESSIBLE reproductions of the old ones 🙏

I hate to say it but we’re old now guys we’re not the target demographic anymore that’s why it’s a disconnect between g1 and g3. I personally just want Mattel to rerelease all the signature looks of all the g1 characters so I can finally have them all. I do like some aspects of g3 especially the variety of the doll sizes but overall I just prefer the design of g1.
