Romans character development this season has been phenomenal

Shiv clearly does not intend to ever be sidelined again. But I don't get a sense that she has any coherent "masterplan" but rather that she is just constantly looking for an opening - an advantage - moment by moment. Always readjusting, always maximizing her options in real-time.

I could NOT imagine this role without Sarah Snook playing Shiv. Just couldn’t.

I think Shiv is actually the most like Logan. She can be ruthless and she is definitely looking out for herself this season. She was Logan’s favorite too

The few episodes where the siblings worked together was when they were most effective and most formidable. Their inability to work together, makes it easy to exploit each of their flaws.

Loved Shiv in this episode. She did tell Tom she was saving him as she stepped on his white shoes. She probably figured out that he would be more trustworthy than her brothers.

The way shivs sitting at the outdoor table shows she putting herself separate from her brothers, but also she's matching mattison like they're both seated facing either other, leaning back, while the brothers are standing and lurching forward. when she's all "everything ok?" - it's more a boss/school teacher tone likes she's in charge. They totally been underestimating her and she works best when she observes and says less.

Shiv plays to her strengths: being underestimated and also managing relationships well. Hate to be the "yass queen" person - but this is how a lot of women garner power and out manouvere men and their hot headed bravado and clumsy displays of power. Going in to hard is sometime NOT the best approach. Soft power - quiet power - is strategic power.

Shiv is definitely underestimated by everyone. Really can't wait to see how her character ends. Sarah Snook is also incredible!!!

Ooo, good catch. Lucas fed her a story that could have been used against him and neither Kendall or Roman brought it up at the last meeting. With that verification, Lucas and Shiv have joined forces. Shiv put together the Kill List. She did a dinosaur cull of all the grey haired men who stood in her way when she tried out her CEO stuff a couple of seasons ago.
But what is she going to do with Tom? He’s out of his depth in both companies. He’s awkward, provincial and dresses wrong for the occasion.
Anyway, I’m glad she got her mojo back. The last two episodes have been brutal. It looked like she lost control of everything.
Now, she just needs to keep one step ahead of Mattson.

Also, they left Shiv out of the call with Logan until he was dead. She even called them on it. I don’t think she will forgive that. Treat Conner like that, not her. She has turned on her brothers.

Shiv is definitely the mysterious 'Girl with the Pearl earring' in this episode.

This season is just exquisite writing. Every episode gives us a secret meeting that showcases the sibling's self interests - Roman with Logan, Kendall with Hugo, Shiv with Matsson - wonder if Connor is up next. They're really ending the series with a bang.

Another great episode, Shiv is definitely making moves w Mattson behind the scenes. Sarah Snook is phenomenal with her acting in the reactions she gives...soooo good!

History is repeating itself. Logan fell out with his siblings. He barely got along with his brother and something happened with the sister. All we know is Logan feels guilt about her death.

I feel like Matsson was testing Shiv with the blood story to see if she could be trusted; whether she'd tell her brothers or take it to the press.

There really is something incredibly interesting in the parallels between Logan and Lukas, and how that affects their attitudes towards the Roy siblings. Obviously, there was the extra layer of Logan being their biological father, but I think both Lukas and Logan, having built their companies from the ground up, have enormous animosity for the kids' attitudes of entitlement to the company, just because they were born into it and therefore think that they are somehow 'on par' with both CEOs.
And I kinda got a step-dad/step-kid vibe in this episode: they lost their real dad, and now this other self made, non-American man is taking over. Kendall is just trying to show how in control he is (and how much Mattson doesnt scare him), Shiv is trying to get on his good side, and Roman (after his little hissy fit on the mountain) may as well have yelled, 'You're not my real dad!!!' at Mattson 😅

Honestly, shocked as I was that Logan got killed so early in the season, I think it was also a brilliant move by the writers: it is honestly so up in the air, its impossible to call as to how it will end.

Respectfully, Shiv wasn't lied to by her "brothers" about the negative Logan Roy articles. She was lied to by Kendall. Roman and Connor had no idea that Kendall sanctioned derogatory "hit pieces" about their late father. Additionally, Roman constantly asked Kendall "should we talk to Shiv" or "should we go get Shiv" whenever a pivotal juncture of the negotiations occurred. // With all of this said, thanks for the great video.

Matsson didn't even look at the pic after receiving. imo He's testing and planting tare seeds, with the crazy blood story - will Shiv try to use it in future? That might blow up right in her face. Feigning vulnerability and fake-sharing, bringing her into his fold, making her feel all smart for taking "her" advice with an offer they can hardly refuse? Sounds like the sort of thing Logan did with his children on the regular.
