Titanfall 2 - Frontier Defense Monarch FLAWLESS Solo in Angel City - INSANE

Monarch solo INSANE Angel City, a definitely challenging task.

Player ProjectLUMINOUS and intelligence_H first noticed the possibility of Monarch solo MASTER Angel City, and did a large amount of attempts. It was when the spawning keys and spawning controls were poorly studied and all we relied on were luck and skill. Though, ProjectLUMINOUS managed to perform the first ever Monarch solo MASTER\INSANE Angel City, by months of attempts.

He was soon aware of the possibility of flawless INSANE solo. That sounds unbelievable, because the success we reached so far was already hard enough and luck-depending, but things were developing as he kept trying: At wave 4, under a certain spawning control strategy, we can keep deployed mortar at a low amount(2 deployed mortars presenting at the same time), this gave an almost perfect solution to wave 4, greatly increased the success rate of flawless wave without using a shield.

The ramaining challenge is wave 5. Intensive enemy tides from both sides quickly push monarch out of its superior positioning, force us to fight in opening space, which drains our elec smokes and lead to an incapability of stopping enemies from crunching harvester. We need a spawning control to decomposite the enemy tides.

A turning point was when I accidentally found the two reapers who follow a Tone at the early wave are keys to incoming enemy tides, delaying their destruction gives us a chance to dealing the tides with preparation. This strat is effective but not enough, because a randomly spawned arc titan from right hand side will disrupt everything when player are stilling struggling with Tones and reapers in the tunnel.

So here came another turning point that ProjectLUMINOUS tried letting Tones and reapers push towards harvester, gave a new approach on dealing Tones&reapers tide: we needn't stick on the tunnel, instead we can fall back to harvester. I can't quite tell how it works, but it seems that delaying dealing Tones&reapers also delays arc titans' spawn. Finally, the effect of these strats is that: a huge enemy tide impacting the tunnel is decomposited into a sequence small tides impacting harvester, and with abundant 4 shields, we manage to absorb these small tides without damaging harvester.

That is how this challenge is finally conquered, involving a year of attempts and iterations.

I tried this solo yesterday with Monarch on easy (struggled because I wasn’t strategizing) but got to round 4 with the two rocket upgrade cores and maelstrom
