It’s scary to see that people in the comments actually think she’s in the right here. I just hope to god they’re not in leadership positions.

At least the easy-bake works unlike her Edison machine.

Amanda really nails the irrational thinking that comes with insurmountable stress. The walls were closing in and she knew it.

PSA: it's not even smart to do what she's doing. Firing, rehiring, and re-onboarding is a painfully expensive process that companies work hard to avoid. Working long hours crushes productivity for engineers and other knowledge workers. Even at high-pressure companies, it's understood that it's counter-productive to run a marathon at a sprint pace.

If I were a team leader I would be happy to see my employees celebrating a birthday in this way. It shows team spirit and positive bonds between colleagues which are important for any field of work!

I find it funny how she criticizes the daughter for playing with a fake oven versus a real oven. It's symbolizing how she is playing with fake science for personal glory rather than developing real machines that work and I think she is frustrated because deep down she knows she is the one with the fake oven

Everybody who's making excuses for her behavior should take a step back and realize that she's demanding they break the laws of physics. Requiring them to work 24 hour shifts isn't going to make that happen, nor is denying them a break.

I feel bad for Edmond here.
He sacrificed so much including time with his family all for nothing.
He struck me as the only sane man of the initial group.

I hope everyone who's agreeing with her actions ends up working for someone who acts like her

The moment at 1:05 is really interesting when she snags upon the easy-oven, a toy that bears both visual and metaphorical similarity to the Edison one — the Edison being almost like a toy or more useless version of a blood testing machine in the same way an easy-bake oven is a toy/simulated version of a real oven. At that moment she unwittingly snags on the inconsistency at the heart of the Edison, but it’s not clear if she recognises that or not— she’s clearly upset by it in some way since she asks him to get it out of the lab. I haven’t watched the show yet so I’m curious wether it comes up again.

You can really feel the uncomfortable tension through the screen. This series is amazing and Amanda Seyfried and all the other cast did an amazing job.

The WORST thing any 'leader' can do is instill fear into the team. To literally feel scared to go to work. If this scene is true, Holmes deserves what's coming to her.

As a manager in health care whose employees have been through some crazy stuff because of covid, I would be so happy and tear up if my team was celebrating everyone’s birthdays this way.

She was like this because she was on the verge of the whole thing collapsing in on itself.

If Amanda doesn't win a bunch of awards for this I'm gonna throw an Easy Bake Oven off a freeway.

That is so psychotic, they put in 12 hour days on a tech she knows doesn’t work and she’s up their ass about a 10 minute birthday acknowledgment. Absurd

Everyone in the comments saying people are defending her actions. I literally only see comments all pointing to why what she's doing is wrong😂

I am still not quite there in the series but she and Sunny were way worse in reality. He had a meltdown because people made team shirts to boost the morale and he put spy software in all computers

1:18 I love her reaction when he says "Because real ovens are dangerous for kids"
