My dad was in WWII and earned a Bronze Star, less than one week incountry, following D-Day.
This gave him the ability to squash all of his other metals, including two Purple Hearts, saying his men were the ones who deserved them.

Same with ROs - I was a 2533 and got similar requests which became me in Nam 04/65 - 10/68 - no purple heart - and we Marines took care of our Docs...incredible men.
