It’s been a while since I’ve been this impressed with one of my test drives. We just put over 800 miles on this top-of-the-line Grand Wagoneer Series III Obsidian covering long stretches of highway and rural road driving and I haven’t anything but admiration for what Jeep has accomplished here. And this new Hurricane engine will have you asking who needs a HEMI? This is the perfect embodiment of the large, luxury SUV.

MSRP as-tesed: $116,530

Gotta admit, I’ve loved that Grand Wagoneer since its inception — definitely a welcomed & formidable option in its segment; a clear homerun! Went to check one out and was impressed; every single time I see one, I stare b’c it’s so sharp. 🔥 I rented a Suburban and filled it to the brim to take my daughter to college last month so I empathize … best wishes to your baby girl on her collegiate endeavors.

I don’t think that’s a V6 Steve! 01:03 straight 6!

Great review Steve!
I was so sold on this and it made me go back to your Denali Ultimate video which you Badly wanted...remember? 😅. Well, phew it's a tough choice at this point. The nitpick were obviously annoying at this price point. One would have thought these are no brainers; but here we are. But this is a significant improvement from the V8 though. The lack of a self driving technology in 2023 on your highest trim will be downer for this price point and lagging infotainment?! Great competitor though. Chrysler/Stelantis....no comments.

Glad you didn’t get a Mini the week Maddie had to go!

Nice and all that but they are not selling. These and dodge ram 1500 and 2500 all sitting over priced and are not selling keep an eye out for cut in prices. Find how many day supplies for these cars in your area and maybe get a discount. Doge has like 400 days worth of pick up on the market today.

That really high praise for a really expensive Stellantis vehicle. I wonder how the reliability will be.

Hmm, interesting. It's not available in Aus, but it got me wondering about the new JGC. I just discovered it goes up to AUD$143, 000! Which is absurd, imo.

Please tell me the infotainment is available with a dark mode. Those screens like very bright and harsh. Even if so, dark mode should be the default like with UConnect.

Not tryna critique your outstanding work but you made a slight error when you said that it has a twin-turbo V6... But it's actually an inline-6 with the double turbos and 510hp, with the top tier regular Wagoneer's packing that same engine but with a little less overall horsepower and torque. Please keep up the amazing job with your reviews and continue delivering the best.

I'm waiting to buy a used GW Obsidian but from the comments on the Jeep forums these vehicles have a lot of electrical issues. But overall I'd take a GW over an Escalade in a heart beat🔥🔥

I'm impressed with how big it is, how ugly it is, how luxurious it is, and how expensive it is

Looks like a good car to lease but I can't imagine trusting Jeep to make a car with this much complexity that lasts.

Power to me actually feels much better than even the HEMI… My guess is some moles infiltrated the BMW engine department and kind of figured out how to make a TT six cylinder that provides power, fuel economy and keeps both emissions and noise down. Doesn’t feel like the engine is straining even with a vehicle north of 6000 lbs. As much as I like Tahoe/Yukon, they are way late to the game in the heavy vehicle gas engine Turbo six cylinder market. I am very impressed with the Hurricane TT six. I have had Fords Ecoboost V6 and I seriously think the difference is the inline layout and more of a centerline balance makes the difference. I will evaluate real world highway MPG soon!
