"You know, I'm a bit of a Messiah myself."

What does it mean to be fully human and fully divine? This film explores the question, and in doing so, makes Jesus, and all people more powerful.

This is perfect because it is imperfect. Sure we may know who Christ is. But we have no place in deciding what he would do and when. And there are a many examples of this in the Gospel.

I love this scene, best in the entire movie. Expresses Jesus' feelings about God and being a messiah.

“I’ll tell you what God wants!”
“He wants you Spider-Man”

I get this version of Jesus though. It’s not how everyone wanted him to be portrayed, but Jesus was a human. On the garden of Gitsimani, he even asked God to spare him. The spirit wills but the flesh is weak.
We didn’t even know what happened to him since his teenage years. It’s more blasphemous to say that Jesus never sinned. He paid for our sins on the cross, and so he paid for the sins He committed himself. Suffering is part of his humanity, in order to understand the limits of the human body in the human’s perspective. After all, He’s God the Son, He is the one and only Son of God and He was given to us so He could deliver us from evil and bring us to His kingdom.

Doubtless Christ was tempted just as we all are to sin, but he was perfect so he could resist such temptations more strongly. Most of us do not succumb to them - lying cheating stealing killing - so, he certainly could do the same. This does present a strong portrayal of a very "human" Messiah in Jesus; someone consumed by self-doubt.

At the beginning of the movie it says this in not true gospel.... it’s just a look at human Jesus and wondering how did Jesus the man think

I as a man have sinned. I confess that I have e confessed my sins to God before new years I have failed several times and out of all that I have endured I have taken off more of my demons. I used to judge but I have judged lesser and learned to judge no more. I have lusted for women and I still struggle with that but I love women. I have let my anger get the better of me but I have controlled it. I as a man am struggling with my belief in God however I'm not an atheist because I believe God exists. He is not invisible he's everywhere he's everything and everyone if we allow him into our hearts and we know one thing he knows us before we were born all we can do is pray that our lives go well and end well and enter heaven as he predicted. I don't know but I won't question the Lord. God is good he always is.

Nikos kazanzakis wrote a searing story.
That analysed the duality of humanity and our struggle.
Put in the very real context of the Christ figure.
Its a damn genius film..

In Platoon they foreshadow his role as jesus multiple times in that.

Christ's human will submits and is in perfect accordance with his divine will. Here the divine and human will are portrayed as being in conflict. This risks falling into nestorianism.

Darth Vader appears in the deleted cut and tells Jesus that he is his father.

Willem Dafoe as Jesus is definitely the Luke Skywalker of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". Or Jake Skywalker, as he is usually called.

This movie is an interesting what if scenario, basically an alternate version of the bible. But Jesus, the one in the Bible, is definitely not at all the doubter and afraid nervous blast in a sinful type person that Willem Dafoe played. Jesus was absolutely certain of who he was and what he was here to do. He preached nothing but peace and love. He was very confident in who he was, what he was here to do, and knew that he was going to die. The only time, and I mean the only time in the Bible that Jesus expressed his human side was in Gethsemane. But even so, it was a brief moment and he quickly overcame it because he knew what he was here to do. He was confident strong and well aware of who he was in the power that he had. This movie is blasphemous in every respect. Usually I like artistic interpretation, but being a devout christian, I can do nothing but condemn this. Jesus never ever ever spoke like this, or even had thoughts like this.
