Drag & Cross Dressing. It's Cool When Some Do It But It's A Problem When Others Do It!

This is why anti-lgbtq laws are targeting cross dressing!
WHAT DOES PURIENT INTEREST MEAN???

What is and isn't considered men's and women's clothing isn't a matter of fact, but interpretations and enforcement of laws, along with culture, rights, and customs.

I came to drag queens thru Ru Paul's show. Listening to the contestants tell their personal stories opened my heart completely. Personal identity is such a world of exploration & I refuse to allow "conservatives" to use the state to oppress adult expression. As far as kids go, it's hardly only drag queens who make sexual jokes or innuendo in our culture. The current freak out by rightwing politicians really feels more like distraction & division more than true "caring." This was a FASCINATING discussion & educational sesh today!! 💙

TL;DR - Literally almost every kind of clothing type you can imagine has been worn by both powerful men and powerful women of most ethnic and racial groups at some point historically. Even from a practical stand-point, due to the fact that there is a lot of gray area into what technically counts as "men's" versus "women's" clothing, and that clothing styles can shift over time quite dramatically, it makes zero sense to pass legislation that punishes wearing cross-gender clothing. Which also means that, assuming at least some conservative politicians aren't completely stupid, the real reason they are passing laws like this now is because they are specifically promoting harassment, discrimination, and erasure of LGBT folks, and people who are just a bit more gender-non-conforming in general. (Say, women who hate dresses and make-up, and prefer to keep their hair short.)

That clip of the Tennessee senator being called out for crossdressing was straight out of a phoenix wright game.

So glad you mentioned the previous association of pink with boys and blue with girls. Not enough people know this. Just shows how arbitrary this stuff is.

Merry Christmas y'all! 🤶🏽

Conservatives are afraid people will find out they are sexually attracted to everyone and everything, and it’s literally all they think about. 😂

Thanks for this vid. I still think it's absolutely insane that there's people out there okay with *laws* dictating what you can/can't wear (as long as it's not obscene). Like to me it's so ridiculous to get arrested for what you're wearing, literal fashion police.

I hope that enough people simply ignoring these „anti-drag“ laws will make them unenforceable. Once the laws are put into „practice“ I can’t imagine a person who has it all together standing up for the petty bullshit in good faith.

Every year, mainly around Christmas millions of British kids go to a theatre or sit down in front of the TV to watch (and participate in) pantomimes- a traditional form of holiday entertainment in which there is usually a male character played by a woman and a larger than life female character played by a man. The latter is traditionally referred to as 'the Dame'.

There is nothing sexualised that the kids would pick up- though there is a lot of innuendo humour for the mums and dads. Its considered good. clean (ish) family fun
Drag Queens reading to children seems to be a similar vibe to me: a larger than life theatrical character making reading fun and exciting.

Thank you. It's all getting into my head. I've been a huge supporter of Men wearing whatever the hell they want just like women seem to be able to do thanks to feminism... but after 40 years of being socialized female, I'm having a hard time just picking out a pair of earrings I like because "are they too feminine" as I'm 2 years on testosterone and desperate to "pass". Before I realized I was allowed to transition, I'd come to terms and allowed myself to enjoy some feminine things, and while I know there is no reason I still can't enjoy them, it makes me feel very uneasy. Most of my cute dangle earrings are semi retired for the time being... I'll get them back out someday

F.D. sent me.

16:09 Kind of relate to that kind of thing as a trans woman. Accepting myself as trans allowed me to let go of the gender policeman in my head.

15:17 The fact that the clothes are not practical for housework is somewhat the point. The middle and upper class woman the fashion plates were aimed at would have had domestic servants. In general, historical dress is very practical for the purpose it was designed for.

Also, I was reading a book by a lady written in 1903 which describes her deliberately attempting to fall off of a horse repeatedly to check whether the safety skirt design of her riding habit would snag. So there's an image for you.

Doesn't this go against the First Amendment🤨? The government is trying to tell people what they can wear🤬. Where are all the constitutional scholars😡?

I went out with a guy from Samoa when I was in college (early 1990’s University of Missouri-Columbia.) He wore a sarong around the dorm, not cross dressing, just a cultural norm in Samoa…a U.S. territory, he was and continues to be (as far as I know) a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. He was/is (I am assuming he is still alive, ) a straight, cis gender male who wears a sarong when he is taking it easy as he did on his island of origin and as his ancestors did since time immemorial.

So, that sarong? Would that then be considered illegal with such an “anti drag” law? Seems like an expensive can of worms that these legislators seem to want to die on.

Here because of F.D. So glad I clicked! I really appreciate the way you spoke with positivity and hope while pointing out how ridiculous this is. I needed to hear “we gonna be alright” so thank you

Wow, I'm blown away by hearing all the laws that have existed in order to restrict the clothing people wear on the basis of sex and gender identity. Clothing is based on culture, customs, region, and time- not genitals, lol. It's extremely disconcerting to think some people believe otherwise.
Anyway, fantastic work, man! I really appreciate your perspective- you deserve a lot more recognition for the research, quality, and well-timed humor in your videos. Subscribed 👍 Definitely will be checking out more of your content
