Here are 10 reasons why Final cut is better:

1. 4k Export.
2. Customization with the "Inspector"
3. More green screen options (You can move and resize your green screen footage)
4. Keyframes(You can keyframe anything. Text, green screens, overlays,
5. You can add unlimited overlays!
6. More effect options including a masking option.
7. More title customization and more titles. (Includes 3D titles.)
8. Supports 3rd party plugins.
9. You can color correct with more options and is more reliable.
10. More export options.

These are the main features of Final Cut, that iMovie doesn't have.

You said that you can't add the filters (black and white, grain film, etc), in iMovie, but you can. There are so many more features in iMovie that you didn't show.

Hey! That was a great introduction to final cut pro for me.
I will follow your tip. I will get even more used to imovie and when it doesn't meet my needs anymore I will get ino FCP.

Thank you big time!

Great video, TI! Super helpful. I'm a budding YouTuber and this video makes me want to switch to FCPX.

I will explain why they are so many dislikes. You need to pick 10 things thats different about them and show us.. The video doesn't seem to have any structure... Obviously you know this stuff but you should be able to convey the knowledge in an organized manner.. Thanks for the video but it can be better...

Good explanation, well done! Can I use a iMovie video output in 1080 to play on a SD TV channel? Will it be in the same quality as that of an output from a FCP?

I like the fact that you said "I just don't want to get away with something" that makes a lot of sense actually! this was great at comparing the two! thanks

Actually, I'm an editor myself and yes in iMovie you can put things ontop of videos ex: overlays and colors and you can also mask in iMovie, but I agree FCP X has many more effect and transition options.

he said iMovie doesn't have video effects, but Final Cut does

I have about 3 minutes of 2.7k 60fps video imported into both iMovie and FCP, I’m using the demo of FCP for another 3 weeks. When I export the videos out at 1080 from each program I get a 6.45GB file from iMovie and a 489MB from FCP. Why the massive size difference?

Im begining using imovie and when i put a large video suppose 25 min or any other and speed it up by 2000% it lacks a lot until like half hour. What is this all about? Computer or program?

good video. I'm about to hop on the Final Cut Pro X soon. currently using imovie. in your opinion, how long will it take approximately to get comfortable with the final cut pro software? also, are there any drawbacks/limitations or anything you don't like as much with final cut and if so what are they? thanks.

I just started learning to use iMovie. I just downloaded and installed the 90 day Final Cut Pro X trial version. Is the Final Cut Pro X trial version fully functional? Does the trial version have a watermark or any other limitations?
