“I have no idea why I’m even here” proceeds to have one of the best fights in the series for no reason.

The best part of this fight for me is how much of it is a literal metaphor. It starts with Aisawa rising from the chairman's seat knowing that it doesn't belong to him but hoping killing Kiryu will make him feel like he earned it.
Instead, as the fight progresses, Kiryu forces Aisawa out the room, down the hall and further and further away from both it and the dream it represents before finally being kicked out the front door and sent flying out of the building to be left beaten out in the cold.
Kiryu quite literally dragged Aisawa out of the chairman's seat and threw him out of the Tojo clan.

In a ploy to maintain some sort of legacy after his death, Kurosawa orchestrates an elaborate conspiracy in order to have his inherit both the Tojo and Omi Alliance. However, Aizawa, having been estranged from his father for so long, finds no value in this. It does not stop him from accepting this position, but he feels the need to prove himself as the strongest in order to feel worthy as clan leader. Kiryu Kazuma stands as the final obstacle in this path.

But aizawa basically not knowing why tf he’s the final boss is super funny too lmao

The fact Aizawa has a koi on his back made this all so poetic, he wants to climb the waterfall that is kiryu kazuma to ascend to his dragonhood ( tojo's chairmanship) but in the end is proved to not be worthy, being stopped in his tracks by a true dragon.

This whole fight was Kiryu's best moment in the entire franchise for me. Dude's half dead, past his prime, estranged from his loved ones and still manages to prove himself as the undisputed king of the Tojo clan, all whilst giving Aizawa a true lesson in humility and respect. It's just so cool to see him come this far if your first game was 0.

Thank you kurosawa and whoever your wife was for giving birth to the fucking best fight in the series, this song makes me shed a tear

Can we take a moment to appreciate how sick Aizawa's heat aura is? Seriously, the pink and yellow look amazing together, and the swirly effect is both striking and unique, as I'm pretty sure he's the only character in the series whose aura looks like this. Definitely my favorite.

It come full circle when you realized that Aizawa wears a similar white pinstripe suit that Kiryu wears in 0, and Kiryu himself sporting a grey suit that is close in color with Kuze's.

Me 0 minutes into the boss: "who the fuck is this guy again"

Me 5 minutes into the boss: "oh ok hes just the best boss in all of rgg"

The adrenaline rush Aizawa was experiencing must have been a whole new level of crazy. Because how the FUCK do you get your head slammed to the ground after jumping over a flight of stairs, and then get up like nothing happened???

I think the cutscene at 1:11 is genuinely one of the coolest things I've ever seen

One thing that stuck out to me when I was fighting this guy was how often he would go for cheap shots to Kiryu's wounded stomach. Obviously it makes sense that he would whatever it took to win, but to me it showed a lack of confidence in his own strength. He knew deep down that he didn't stand a chance against Kiryu on even footing, so he latched onto the only advantage he had.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I thought it was interesting.

Despite Aizawa being the random copout final boss, at least I give him astronomically far more respect than Yakuza 6’s main villain and final boss. At least Aizawa can fight, be entertaining, and be a threat. Honestly he’s the inverse of Iwami. Where Aizawa didn’t care for his dad’s plan to give all the power to him (and fight Kiryu to believe he’s earned it), Iwami was a pampered little man child who believed he deserved it all without truly realizing what that entailed.

I finished this fight on Christmas Eve 2022, seeing that boss fight occur in 2012 it was wild to think that during those snowy days two battled for their dreams. Aizawa battling for his dream of being the top dog, while Kiryu battled for family. Best part was near the end when the fight takes to the snow outside with this blaring

What an amazing way to top off such a lengthy game.
Yakuza 5 is my favorite RGG game, even though it's so amazingly dull at times.

I didn't even care how out of the blue this boss fight was. It's just so damn good, it became my favorite boss in the whole series.
