If you only vote when you're convinced your vote can potentially change the outcome, you won't have a healthy outlook on the democratic process. It's not about being "lucky" enough to live in a part of the country with a competitive election, it's about having your voice heard. Proving that you care enough to speak up. The most important election I ever voted in was one in which my candidate lost, but I'm still proud I showed up

For me, it’s not about the possibility that my one vote will literally change the outcome of any election. I don’t expect that to ever happen in my lifetime, even living in a marginally swingy state like Virginia.

It’s about helping make sure people like me are properly represented in the voter statistics and given due consideration in forming future policy. If politicians perceive that voters similar to me are more likely to vote, then hopefully they will cleave to policies that reflect the priorities of people similar to me.

You shouldn’t expect your vote to be decisive, but I encourage everyone to vote even if your elections aren’t competitive.

It’s important to vote on ballot initiatives and in your city and county

In every election, your vote always counts. Even if your state votes 70% x and 30% y, your vote still matters.

If you want and vote for x, then your x representative can be more confident in their opinions and votes. party x can also spend less money campaigning there next time, which means more money for more competitive elections.

If you want and vote for y, then your district is 1 vote closer to becoming competitive next time, giving y hope to hold power there. It also makes the winning x candidate less confident in their actions, which benefits y.

Finally, (if your state laws allow this) voting for the most pro-y candidate in the party x primary will also help you, by making the winning x candidate more moderate.

There is no such thing as a wasted vote!

Total BS!!!! I've voted conservative since 1976 in california. I've never won a senator or a ballot petition. Total bs, why vote?

I live in a state that skews more than 15 points toward one of the candidates. Don’t matter which one, or whether I support or oppose that candidate. Because of the Electoral College, My vote is nothing but moral support. I will vote anyway, but I can safely and confidently say, my vote does not matter.

I'm looking for this video that you had posted, but now seems to be missing. It was called: "Are polls that use AI chatbots even polls?" Please advise.
