The Amazon and comiXology merger continues forward, for better and worse. The new app launched. There are some really nice new features, for sure, but also some lost capability and the comic book page quality...sigh.

It's really hard to understand why Amazon would acquire Comixology if this was the intended result. I have a massive library (unfortunately) and just consider this to be an off-ramp from the hobby.

BTW the “discover” button only works in the US also I’m enraged for creators that are no longer being mentioned in the “description” as well as all the independent creators that are being disrespected and insulted!

Comixology and the experience it gave users have kept piracy at bay IMO. BUT now that the experience is ruined, there's not much incentive for consumers to pay. This will hurt both the creatives, companies and consumers. Amazon has to act quick and enhance the user experience. At the moment, they're not on par with the Comixology experience. They should strive to be better.

Thank you very much for making this video. Was shocked to see how bad the book quality was on the new updated app and was wondering how others felt. Also, am totally with you in seriously contemplating how to move forward with this, if at all. Have a huge library as well that I spent a lot of time and money on. Seems to me that in a digital world, perhaps no platform is long-lasting and digital purchases are rendered temporary. Am seriously asking myself if building this library was worth it. Looking forward to your next video on this.

One of the handful of times in the last ten years when my memory goes back to Qwikster. Netflix listened to the feedback and didn’t move forward with something that no one wanted. Companies should learn from that.

This new app interface is trash! I have a number of complaints about it, but the thing that irks me most is that there is no more cart, you have to buy your books one by one.

Was really hoping for custom lists. I'm a list nerd and would love to build a Top 10 series list, Top 10 issues list, Favorite Artist list, etc. Missing that and the quality downgrade make this a huge disappointment.

I’ve got a Comixology account long before Amazon and Comixology started working together I tried to log in today and it wouldn’t let me in it keeps on telling me to sign in to Amazon and I fear I’ve lost all of my comics now because I never had a Amazon account with my Comixology account

Do you have to delete your existing ComiXology app and reload it? Because it does not launch beyond the title screen when I try to open it.

I hate the new format so much. They RUINED Comixology for me. Both the app and the website were ridiculously user friendly and now I can't even find my existing stuff on the website and the panel-by-panel guided view doesn't work on the app.

i didn't have a amazon account associated with my log in for comixology, did i lose everything i had on that account? any information would be helpful?

The picture quality is such a huge disappointment. It is all that is relevant about the app.

I mean we all knew this change was coming, but this has seriously impacted the indie comic book community. The quality of the change is terrible. The percentage take of Amazon from indie creators to have their comics be put on this trashy platform is laughable. You want to take 65% of the cut when you display your comic like that? Ok you enjoy ruling the world. lol

I already desperately miss the previous design. Since they got rid of the in-browser reading, all I have left to read on is my iPhone, which I'm fine reading with sometimes, but I always saw as secondary to the browser reading. I wish they had kept the browser reading with the new, handier functions for scrolling quickly. Thank God I still buy books in print form

I've been looking at my library while watching your video. It looks like certain books (mostly Marvel and Image) have the poor cover image quality but the interior pages look okay. My DC, Dark Horse, and Valiant covers look high res.

The loss of HD quality is what bothers me the most. My library has been essentially downgraded from Comixology HD to the point of I would not have purchased these titles previously if this was the image quality. It would be as if Apple took my previous purchased high bit rate mp3s and replaced what I owned with 128 bit music files or worse.
