The hand sign isn't exactly the same as the death reaper jutsu.
I did notice tho that it's very, very close.
Naruto looks like he did the usual shadow clone jutsu.
But then if you notice Minatos hand signs, it has 4 more signs before it looks like the one Naruto used.
So my theory possibility is,
Is it possible that the first half of the death reaper jutsu is to access the death reaper and the second half is the shadow clown jutsu?
Maybe they're bringing a shadow clown of the death reaper, which makes sense why the user has to give up part of their life force or Chakra to it. Since the shadow clone jutsu divides the users Chakra evenly and each clone is actually themselves.
Summoning a clone of another entity that isn't yourself, would need something to sustain the clone. So it takes Chakra or life out of its user.
