God spoke to me while I was camped out by the gates of hell in what I had called the outer darkness. He said aren't you tired yet aren't you ready to come home. I threw my hands up in the air and said whatever it takes Lord whatever it takes. In my mind's eye is I turned around to see his face He wiped my slate clean. Demons I've fought my whole life. Gone in an instant. If I make my bed in hell Lord you are even there.

I don’t want to be saved by anything I do. Anything I do without Him is worthless. The Holy Spirit worked in my heart so I could realize what Christ has done for me. I did not go to God first. I don’t want a piece of my salvation to rest on what I do.

Well, to be fair, God actually initiates.
"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
BUT then it's up to us to seek him, trust him, love him, as you say, John. :)
