I know Smith gets a lot of praise, rightfully so, for portraying The Doctor’s cold fury. But this, Capaldi’s stare, made me think he would go back to The War Doctor

Ashildr's answer to The Doctor's question perfectly displays her arrogance. She believes herself untouchable because of what she thinks she knows about The Doctor. The Doctor has no idea where he is being sent, but he is telling Ashildr "I have already escaped your trap, you just don't know it yet. The only reason you still exist is because I haven't caught up to you. For your sake, pray I never do." That calm yet cold fury is far more terrifying than any angry shout could be. It is right there you see the true Time Lord, an unfeeling god who has already seen your fate and declared your life forfeit.

I wasn't sure that I cared for Capaldi's Doctor in the beginning, but he grew on me very, very quickly. Sometimes, I think he might be my favorite. He can be funny and quirky, like Smith and Tennant's Doctors, but his serious side can feel so much more menacing when he's angry; like something dangerous is on the verge of being let loose. I love his performance.

Shouting is scary, true, but lower tones just make the anger much colder.

You can see the fear on her face when he says, “She was saving YOU.” And then he follows up with warning her that he's unlikely to be able to hold his rage and not take revenge. Me has very few visible emotions, but look at her eyes when the doctor talks, that is fear.

To be honest.. in my eyes that line is the scarest of all the doctor when you consider that he can travel in space and time so he could follow you anywhere

This is the Doctor's way of saying: "You exist because I allow it. You will die when I command it."

His accent gets more English and less Scottish whenever he gets dark, it's a subtle touch but I love it. It's like he reverts to the Doctor he has always been, the one who walks through wars like a stroll in the park.

People give a lot of praise to Capaldi for Twelve's anger moments (and rightfully so, he mastered that craft) but honestly, my favorite moments of him are always the ones where he is showing his kindness. Because his resting expression is a frowning face anyway, so you kinda expect him to be angry, but that's not his true face, that's the facade he's projecting because it's easier, but in his core, Twelve is still this incredibly kind hearted man.

Capaldi could've served in the Time War
