The Social's Jessica Allen Shouldn't be Fired For Comments About Hockey and Don Cherry

Earlier today, Jessica Allen from CTV's The Social suggested that she didn't see Don Cherry as an icon, and that for her, Hockey was associated with "white boys" who were "bullies" and often lacked thoughtfulness. She also noted that because hockey is very expensive, many people are left out of it

In response to this, many people mad at Don Cherry being fired from Hockey Night in Canada and Coaches Corner for suggesting Immigrant Canadians don't wear the poppy or respect veterans, feel Jess Allen should be fired for her remarks. Many directed this at the social twitter

No she is not saying the same thing and this is why we called for her head because don cherry never said anything about how hockey players are white boys who turn out to be bullies. What they both said are completely different things that is why we can call for her to be fired. Don cherry talked about how people that come into Canada don’t even show support for the men and women who fight for the right for them to be here. What Jess Allen said is not comparable. He literally didn’t specify a race. My parents and brother are immigrants and are white. The problem here is people are jumping to conclusions and making it about race. An immigrant can be anyone from the US, Europe, Asia, etc. This is so ridiculous.
