Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! I’ve been trying to get regular voiceover work for over a year now, and it’s hard to find work without “paying to play”. Not to mention, as a newer voice over artist the competition on paid sites would likely eat me alive! I’ve had some success on Upwork, but now that I’ve got some work under my belt I’m realizing that many of the job postings offer pay rates that are so low they’re frankly degrading. (For example, $5 for 15 minutes produced). I believe I’m at the point where I’ve perhaps outgrown those sorts of entry level gigs, but had no idea where to go next as I’m not yet ready to take the leap into paid website territory. Your video provided so many new resources I did not know about! Thank you so much!

Great video Gary. There were a few names I was unfamiliar with so will check those out. Fiverr has been good to me over the years - despite feeling a bit race-to-the-bottom at times I do have a lot of regular clients on there now. Upwork is ok but the rates for some of the jobs I've seen on there aren't great. I was a member of PeoplePerHour about 5 years ago in which I got one job in about 3 months, then they tried to charge me for membership as I hadn't got enough work. Not sure if that's still the case - will have another look. I tried Freelancer at around the same time - I didn't get work through them as you could only filter jobs by 'voiceover', meaning you got a ton of jobs you weren't the right fit for to work through. Nonetheless, worth another shot.

Hi Gary. When would you recommend a mic upgrade? I'm on a Rode Nt1a at the mo. I'd love a senheisser 416. I heard there is an incredible Chinese copy for a quarter of the price (Synco I think) but clients still wanna see that big brand name! Cheers!
