Paula Abdul - Rush Rush - September 1990 Recording (Single Take)

In the second half of 1989, after a successful chart run with three #1 singles on the Hot 100, Paula Abdul began planning her sophomore album.

Presented to her as a demo by the Family Stand in 1990, Rush Rush was recorded in just one take as a scratch vocal and was never formally produced, save for being mastered in March 1991. It was ultimately recorded as the first track of the record, alongside Blowing Kisses In The Wind in 1990. The instrumental had been previously recorded in multiple studios by the Family Stand during 1989 and 1990 as a demo and remained unchanged upon 1991 release.

The single which was scheduled for an April 1991 release, ended up being pushed back to May 2, 1991 due to a scandal. I did my best to retain the quality, but YT conversion process makes it a challenge. This is the demo, as they never formally redid the song. They just mastered it.

I remember when "Rush Rush" came out. I was 13 years old and I would listen to it over and over again. I still love it! Thank you for uploading it. 👍

I love this demo! It brightened my day! I love Paula Abdul’s music! I loved hearing what sounded like her giggle in the 3:16 minute mark. Do you have her demo for “Blowing Kisses In The Wind?” THANK YOU for uploading this! 💙

Do you have Knocked Out the demo or unmastered version? I have heard that her recording sessions with Babyface didn't go so great. Man I love that track thought!

Did she record this song in. 1 take ? This sounds just like the original except without the fancy production

I'm feeling like 30y ago when I first time heard this on CD. I realized that time how much brightness and expression it has compared with my poor's kid FeO2 third-hand copied K7. Now having better about what artists were doing. @MiZik, let's launch a music streaming service to publish only pro demos, second versions, and unmastered materials. LOL.
