Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, located on the southern coast of China near Hong Kong. It was a former Portuguese colony until 1999. The official languages are Chinese (Cantonese) and Portuguese, and the largest parish is Nossa Senhora de Fátima.

The flag, adopted on December 20, 1999, features a green field with a white lotus flower above a stylized bridge and water, symbolizing the territory. Above the lotus are five golden stars, one large and four smaller, representing Macau’s connection to China. The green background reflects Macau's peaceful and prosperous future.
