I completely agree, Brodie. Back in my younger days when I played tournament paintball, there was a similar issue with time. Not for waits between games, but the issue w/ slow pace of game. Back when I started, the format was mainly 10-man teams on football field sized fields with 20 minute games where people sat in their bunkers not moving for 15 minutes. It was a pain to watch. They have changed alot since then, but it is still inherently hard to watch and is why it still has not become a mainstream sport yet.

Disc golf has A LOT to figure out and change before it becomes easy and entertaining to watch for the masses. I was wondering why they have not adapted a shotgun start system to help alleviate that super slow start disc golf has.

Fewer gaps in groups increases the benefits of sitting at holes (as opposed to following a card) which increases the number of fans the events can hold.

I went to DGLO and thought it was pretty fun. It’s never gonna be the same type of fun as a basketball or football game

The ultimate disc guy isn’t a golf guy. Imagine that.

Last tournament of last year, I was on chae card, we waited 45minutes overall and we finished 2h before the lead card...Everyone following was pissed...unacceptable.

Another creative solution would be something like having booked entertainment to just hold people's attention during these moments. It'd be fun, entertaining and give another job. Switch it up between people just talking, get disc golf history and facts and then maybe like disc golf comedy or some ****. Just thinking out-of-the-box idea. Obviously still aim at making the core issue as solved as possible, but a stopgap would be having another added fun thing to IRL tour life.

Let's be honest at the pro level there are way too many people there that really aren't at that level causing back ups. When it comes to a, b, c tiers that's another issue because of multiple classes and I'm not sure what to do there. For pro level elite events on a three day tournament day one should always be qualifying round

I played my first tournament in a long time recently for this same reason. Taking 4.5 hours to get thru 1 round on a day where we play 2 rounds…..it’s not an accurate representation of how good I can play at all. When I’ve scored 960 rated rounds but do significantly worse in a tournament because of how long I wait between shots…..
And I get they’re talking about the entertainment aspect but there are a lot of reasons it shouldn’t take as long.

Yeah I agree I was on a 3 card following a 5 card I couldn’t even get into the tournament couldn’t get warm cause we sat at each tee box for a solid 20 to 30 min for 20 holes ..

There you go Brodie... pick that "low hanging fruit" and see who bites. Delude yourself into thinking you're doing it for the sport because I just don't believe it one bit. It is one thing to not give a crap about what other people think and go on and another when you're sucking the life out of something for your own benefit.

How on earth is that any different than golf…? Waiting isn’t different the spectacle of the people at more of a celebrity status is more exciting. That’s it

I went to my first ever dgpt event at DMC this year and from a fans perspective I completely disagree times between cards didn't seem excessive at all and following cards was at a great pace as a fan I was just shook to be watching the pros

Don't you haters want DG to grow because Its not growing. It did when COVID hit but now it's back on the downslope no big money for players. There is so much wrong with this sport & I love the game but Brodie is right don't you want more people interested in the game than making fun of it & never giving the sport credit it deserves. DGPT has to step up but they WON'T. I think a dress code should be mandatory not any athletic shorts or T-shirt type crap everyone should look professional! So many things are wrong but nothing gets fixed to keep growing the sport. 💩

Bogey you not right! As a player and fan you are wrong it's all fun! You should just stop playing and talking. You are the problem.

Tournaments are fun. What are you talking about, Brodie? You can’t state that stuff like it’s fact. I thought you were trying to grow the sport. Maybe continually taking negatively about the sport isn’t the way to go about it…? Improve, yes. Seek better ways of doing things, yes. But continually being negative about the sport isn’t helpful. Imagine if someone doesn’t know disc golf but they know you…and then they hear this.

Lifelong players and fans just do not attend, not because its boring or slow ...because ticket PRICES are a scam. The dgpt ruined the sport being greedy

It's a day at the park, enjoy it. People like to fish and catch nothing for hours. Get out, throw some elite series tournaments, and show us your opinions matter
