I always imagined Luke having those conversations after Return of the Jedi.

There is so much depth in the Legends lore.

One of the biggest issues I had with the sequel trilogy is now the Force ghosts did nothing. Luke absolutely should have been talking to consulting them at various points in the films and they should have talked to Luke any time they saw he was in trouble.
