It is a shame they didn't put even a bit of flashback to the great fight between Mom and Grandma in this film. I'm sure there is a deleted scene that explains her facial scar and shows the mother's guilt. Would have given that movie some additional depth. But I guess they didn't want to change the movies' rather comedic tone.
