It's kind of sad to think about it, a star clearly visible in the sky, might not even be there, poor Betelgeuse.

The mind boggling aspects of astrophysics and the universe. The light from stars that we can see at night take hundreds if not millions of years to reach earth. So everytime we look upon the night sky, we are looking into the past. Pretty amazing stuff

I hope it went nova about 699 years ago, it would be an awesome spectacle to witness. One of the greatest celestial shows that our planet could see and it lasts just a few months and to have it happen while you are alive would be a privilege.

Sun: I'm the only visible star during the day
Betelgeuse: hold my supernova
Additional:
Proxima Centauri:*crying in distance*

The fact that if this star died today and could see the visible explosion from 700 light years away just shows how incredible massive and powerful this star is.

It probably already went supernova. Light is just taking time to reach us.

Fun Fact (idk actually): If Betelgeuse blows up the entire constellation of Orion will mess up.

Even when stars die they still look beautiful.

I liked how you showed the crab nebula form at the end. It was the last supernova to be seen with the same consequences as we expect the supernova of Betelgeuse to be. Clever

I love looking at this star in winters and I don't want it to go anywhere, but I really do wish to see a supernova too.

Can't believe I missed this video. It's also sad we might not see the supernova of betelguese. When I die I want a new star to be born.
