4th Quarter Zebra Midge, Holsinger's Fly Shop

The 4th Quarter Zebra Midge is just a spruced up version of the regular Zebra Midge. It calls for a little bit of flash. regular viewers of mine know that I have a weakness for flash in my flies. A white Zebra Midge is a summertime staple of mine when trout fishing. Typically I fish this pattern under some kind of dry fly in the summer such as a small caddis or a beetle but I will also tight line this nymph to if I'm fishing a deeper hole or just want to get on the bottom.

Like most of the other patterns I share on this channel this is one that can be tied in a multitude of sizes and colors. The reason I like the white ones so much is because our one local stream has a good number of black fly larvae which are actually small little white worm like insects which these White Zebra Midges imitate perfectly.

Materials List:
Firehole 316 Size 18
Firehole Beads 2.0mm Sterling Silver
70 Denier White Thread
Ultra Wire Small Silver
Opal Mirage Tinsel Small

Really good tie, Shawn. I have tied one very similar without the flash. It worked well. I'm going to bet your's is even better!

I had a guide a few years ago on the creek you are refer two give me two of something similar and I tried everything with and didn’t have a single fish hit it. What I started using when there are black fly larva’s around I use egans sexy walts in a size 16-18 and I do very well with that
