Guy driving a bike at 70 KMh (45 MPH) on public road

Caught on camera a guy driving a bike at 70 KM/h (45 MPH) on public road. He was using the traction of vehicle ahead to him to gain his speed. Actually he was about 0,5 meters (2 feet) behind this car. If the car driver push a brake he would be screwed.

On the video you may see the speed about 65 KM/h but I can assure that before I started to record it was more than 70 KM/h.

I wonder if the guy in the car knew the bicycle guy and allowed him to do this. Anyway he was driving slow as for this road so it's possible.

This is pretty impressive.While it is not difficult for any experienced road racing cyclist to do this technically, even with the slipstream it is very difficult to maintain it for that amount of time, so this cyclist is clearly very fit. Your heart rate would be 180 bpm plus at this speed, and the adrenalin rush is enormous. Not withstanding that, it's dangerous! My personal record is 80k/hr behind a semi trailer truck. That's from a standing stop at a traffic light, and was a 2% downgrade which helps a bit. Slip streaming large trucks is weird, because they are so large you hear very little engine noise. You hear the bouncing of the suspension and the scrub of the large tires that you are very close to... Your attention stays hyper focused on the brake lights of the truck, and any sound of the exhaust brakes, which slow the truck down. Every few seconds you have to pop your head out into the slipstream to see what the driver might react to. But generally, it's safer to slipstream a very large truck than a family minivan like the one in the video, because they are professional drivers, and can only speed up and slow down in a controlled way.

going 45 mph on a bike isnt that hard when you have a high enough gear ratio and you're being drafted by a car or truck

Not traction. Traction is between the tire and the road. It's called wind shadow or draft. Another term is slipstreaming. FTR, my mother tongue is not English. It's called educating yourself.

Thats a hell of a speed with that kind of tailgating.
