Last year I made it to day 6 during Advent of Code. My one and only goal this year was to beat last year's attempt...

Mad respect to you for attempting this! It's good to see that despite it being a fun challenge to try and do, if it's not worth your time you know you don't have to do it. Keep doing what is helping you improve I say! Good stuff B)

Thanks for the upload! This actually made me give day3 a shot - timed it too :))

Honesty I respect your stopping point. Day 3 was definitely a challenge. I decided to start on day 3 when I first actually heard about AoC. I wrote the entire thing on day 3, but couldn’t do in depth but fixing until today (day 6) to get it functional because of exams. I think it’s cool that you decided to cut your losses when you found yourself frustrated. If you find time, try to restart at day 10 and see if you can do the rest of the challenge!

Day 6 was a lot easier if you get curious about trying again. It's been unusual this year that some hard questions were put in very early on.

Man just continue on with day 4.
This year the difficulty is all over the place.

I also skipped day 3 after hours of trying but I still could do Day 6 and 7 with all stars.

The difficulty is definitely not linear

Gotta say day 3 was the trickiest so far! If you’re struggling, write out all the possible sets of strings that would pass as 3x3 mini grids and focus on getting your code to pass each one correctly. The example given doesn’t include all of the possibilities

I was stumped by over searching and looking at the symbols more than 1 space away.

day 3 was a bit tricky... depending on how you approach it, it can definatelly be easier or harder.
When I hit a roadblock on such a thing I don't force myself, rather take a break earlier on and come back to it, sometimes even multiple times a day.
I think I've spent less than 3 hours in total on this but hopped on and off on it like 4 times.
Let your brain relax sometimes and have fun programming :)

I still haven’t figured out day 3. I have been trying to do these all in Rust, and I just cannot for the life of me get the borrow checker to cooperate with me for day 3. I managed to get all but that one done through 6 days, although my solution for day 5 part 2 took about 3 hours to run on my laptop.
