A Sewing Machine For Beginners? | Hand Sewing Machine Review

Today I'm trying a sewing machine for beginners, a hand sewing machine that is supposed to be super easy, beginner friendly, and make sewing a piece of cake! Now I've always found sewing machines to be quite difficult to use, and also quite intimidating, however I really wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine so that I'd eventually be able to operate a proper decent sewing machine. I think this hand held sewing machine is definitely a great option for people who are wanting to try it out, and not spend an absolute fortune on an advanced sewing machine. I feel like I still need a bit more time with my hand sewing machine to really figure out how it work and what can be done with it, but my first impressions were really good, and I found using the sewing machine super easy! Therefore I think if you're a beginner to sewing machines, this would be a really good option! But let me know what your thoughts were on this hand sewing machine for beginners!

That little sewing machine would be great for sewing around paper for junk journals.

You always make me smile when things go well and you get all excited over how great you’re doing . 😊 I think we need to have a whole video now of Anthony making emergency cushions for when his family come round 😝 xx

I’ve always wanted to learn to really sew and actually I own 4 vintage sewing machines. They’re all beautiful and still in working condition, I do need a replacement part for the oldest one which is a rotary machine. But I have so many hobbies and side hustles I’ve never been able to dedicate time to learning to sew… we live in my great aunts house and she was a seamstress so I like to think she appreciates those sewing machines being around even if they’re mostly for looks for me lol

Emergency trouser situations will never be as terrifying again. Emergency pants situations will never be as terrifying again. These phrases may mean something different depending on which side of the Atlantic you are on.

When I saw the fabric still attached to the sewing machine I figured that it was a demonstration from the factory that it worked so as to avoid returns from people saying it never worked. Whenever I took my sewing machine to the shop there was always that bit of fabric still attached to show that all the different stiches worked. And you making a whole slew of cushions would be fantastic! Being an artist you've got that flair. Go to charity shops and find not just fabric but sheets, towels, pillowcases, shower curtains, table cloths (good finds if you're looking for items post holiday.) Clothes that have a lot of yardage like party/prom dresses, wedding dresses and bridesmaid etc. They're a great source for under skittiring and tulle, lace, covered buttons, bows and sashes. That's my request to you. Please make a video of you sewing cushions or whatever you want. PS.
Why does having company coming around require more cushions? In the US the word cushion is usually meant only for the seating cushion on chairs and couches. Also the padded cushion that are meant for a patio chair. Also I've heard used for very large cushions bought for the purpose of sitting on the floor.
Otherwise there are pillows to sleep on and decorative/throw pillows. 😊

I had the Hobbycraft mini sewing machine, which looked a more like a regular sewing machine, but it was DREADFUL 😶😂 this gadget looks like it's more up to the job!! I'm looking forwards to your future fashion making videos 🤩

Aah Anthony, no worries, I'm an idiot too. It honestly cracked me up, putting the batteries in the wrong way. It was nice knowing I'm not alone. And we all look for something we can nick batteries from, usually the remote. I love how relateble you are. This is what really happens when you start a project; not everything laid out neatly or to hand (well, for me and you at least). And the need for full disclosure (30 minutes), It's So True, that's how long these things take. Not the 15 minutes and you are sitting there with emergency cushions. (Rant over). Don't forget to put the batteries back, or you gonna be sitting there for 10 minutes trying to get the telly to work. Love you, thanks for cheering us up.

Ant... I love your tattoos on your arm. I think the tattoo artist had to be so talented to get a straight looking line on a curved surface! I think it's the simple designs that take the most precision. Have a great day!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

If you google Mary Beth Hoyt you get all sorts of interesting results but none of them explain why she should be trusted to sell this machine. And the advertisement shows it being used for a lot of repair work - hems, holes in pockets, repairing dolls clothes and, yes! making a pillow!!
I have one of these but have never used it. At least I know what to expect now ❤

I bought one of these 40 years ago. It’s in my basement somewhere; practiced with it but never used for anything!
Can’t wait to see the emergency cushions 🤪

I’ve had one of these in my Amazon cart for ages but have always left it in there because I’ve never sewn in my life and I was too scared I wouldn’t know how to use it. But you did really well with it!

Pretty good. I was wondering if that would work. I don’t sew. Struggled with it. I don’t knit, crochet or do needlepoint either lol.

Hahaha Ant can’t wait to see your emergency cushion!
I sew and while watching you trying to join them layed out flat I was cheering you on to figure it out 😂
Someone gave me one of these years ago and it’s stayed in the box in a cupboard and I get the proper sewing machine out, now seeing you use it I’ll get it out and have a look x

This is timely for me. I've tried (unsuccessfully) to mend some pants recently because the seams were ripped. I went to a local Walmart, and found something like your machine for $20Cdn. Didn't buy it. I chickened out, and bought patches instead.
PS I love your hat. I have some duct tape with a similar pattern.

Lol, this is the only video where I've seen this thing not be a total disaster😂
I still don't trust this thing, but your videos are so fun to watch ! And you did a really good job with it!
Does your town or closest city have somewhere that offers sewing classes? Some sewing shops offer classes. Would you consider it? That way you wouldn't have a buy a machine just yet. I think you would sew some really cool stuff! I really want to see you make emergency cushions.

Was this video also recorded after you were sick? Because COVID brain fog is absolutely a thing (I'm still claiming it 2 months later 🙄), and I guarantee it includes battery installation. Great little hat! Wonderful video!!!
