High pressure has been in control of the weather for the past week and will remain in charge of the weather for the next week too. We can expect a lot of dry weather but there will be short-lived showery interruptions as times too. The main emphasis this week will be on fog and frost as well as sunshine and cloud in what will be another quiet's weeks weather.

Saturday morning has been mostly dry with some dense patches of fog and widespread frost. This afternoon will see most of the fog lift into low cloud but there will be a few stubborn fog patches lingering on all day. A few bright or sunny spells could develop in the south west as well as northern Scotland but generally a lot more cloud around than previous days. Western Scotland will have patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Temperatures will range from around freezing all day where fog lingers to 3C to 8C generally.

Overnight, a band of rain will spread southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland but most central, southern and eastern counties will stay dry although there could be a few heavy showers in the south. Dense fog patches are likely across Wales, southern and southwestern England but overall there shouldn't be as much fog as previous nights. Temperatures won't be as cold either with most places holding at around 3C to 6C but a patchy frost likely through parts of southern and southwestern England as well as eastern England where temperatures will drop to -1C in some places.

Sunday will find the band of cloud and patchy rain moving further southwards across England and Wales but it will die out as it does so. Brighter skies and a few showers will follow to Scotland and Northern Ireland with the sunnier skies spreading into northern England, Wales and the Midlands during the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 3C to 10C north to south. A milder day for southern regions but a colder day in the north.

High pressure is back in over the top of the country on Monday. Most places will have a dry day but a little patchy rain or drizzle is possible in the far north west of Scotland while the rest of the country stays dry with plenty of sunny spells once any early morning fog patches have cleared away. Temperatures 4C to 9C after a patchy frost.

High pressure remains in control of the weather on Tuesday but will be slipping further southwards allowing western winds to return to Scotland.

So Scotland and Northern Ireland will have a lot of cloud with patchy rain or drizzle in the far north of Scotland. The rest of the country will have bright or sunny spells but once again watch out for dense fog patches as well as a widespread frost early and late for England and Wales. Temperatures will range from 4C to 9C but it will be colder where fog lingers.

High pressure begins to relocate to our west on Wednesday. A weak cold front will push southwards across the country but any rain on the frost will die out. England and Wales will have quite a cloudy day but Scotland and Northern Ireland will turn brighter as the day wears on. A milder day in the south at 7C to 10C but a colder day in the north at 2C to 6C.

High pressure sits over the top of the country on Thursday but within a colder air mass. There should be plenty or sunny spells and most places will be dry but a few snow flurries are possible on the east coast with some heavier snow showers clipping into northern Scotland perhaps. Temperatures will be cold with a range from 0C to 5C.

High pressure remains in control of the weather on Friday. Scotland will have a lot of cloud with patchy rain across northern and western Scotland. Northern Ireland, Wales and England will have another dry day with plenty of sunny spells but once again watch out for dense patches and widespread, hard frost early and late. A cold day with temperatures ranging from 0C to 5C.

Looking ahead to next weekend there's no change. High pressure remains in control of the weather. All places stay dry with an on-going risk of the gruesome twosome - fog and frost!

Summary: Most places staying dry all week with only slight amounts of rain and drizzle. Often cold especially for England and Wales with frost and fog and especially later in the week when frost and fog becomes more widespread.
