Gov. Ron DeSantis Admin. Rejects inclusion of AP African American Studies class in Florida High Schools - Michael Imhotep 1-19-23

Florida will not allow a new Advanced Placement course on African American studies to be offered in its high schools, stating that the course is not “historically accurate” and violates state law.

In a letter last week, the Florida Department of Education informed the College Board, which administers A.P. exams, that it would not include the class in the state’s course directory. Rigorous A.P. courses allow high school students to obtain credit and advanced placement in college.

“As presented, the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value,” the department’s office of articulation, which oversees accelerated programs for high school students, wrote on Jan. 12. In the future, should the College Board “be willing to come back to the table with lawful, historically accurate content, FDOE will always be willing to reopen the discussion.”

We can’t start studying our history in SLAVERY. Even when we study the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, which is important to study, we can’t start in 1619 or in the 1440s when the Portuguese get involved. We have to understand the history chronologically and deal with the 800 year occupation of Europe by the Africans known as the Moors who enter into the Iberian Peninsula, today known as Spain and Portugal, from North Africa in 711A.D. This course not only deals with the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade but thousands of years of history that leads up to the Slave Trade of African people taking place.

Aug. 20th, 2019 marked the 400th year Anniversary of the "20 and odd Africans" who came into Point Comfort on Aug. 20th, 1619 in what would later be called the colony of Virginia. This year was known as "The Year Of Return" as many African Americans are reconnecting to Africa and traveling to Ghana and other West African countries. When we discuss the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade we have to first understand that African people are the Original people of North, Central & South America & have been in the land we call U.S. at least 51,700 years.

I read just recently that the course also had an anti-free-enterprise bent to it. So this course was rightly rejected. America is not a Marxist country.

Today, laws work to the BENEFIT of black people (affirmative action) - so legal discrimination is a thing of the past, fortunately. We've had a two-term black PRESIDENT, so America can't be too terribly racist - when you think about it.
